About
Hi, I’m Megan, the artist behind Pencil and Paws. I’ve been drawing in a variety of styles for as long as I can remember, but realism and pencil portraiture have always been special to me. There’s something about slowly bringing a face to life on a page that’s deeply rewarding.

Over the years I’ve drawn everything from pop culture characters to people I love. Each time learning a new detail that helps create that feeling of when a sketch stops looking like lines and starts looking like something real. This past Christmas, I made my first pet portraits as a gift for someone, drawing their animals in the same detailed, realistic style I use for everything else. The response blew me away. Friends and family started reaching out almost immediately, asking if I could do the same for their pets, and offering to pay me for it.
What started as a personal gift became something I realized I wanted to share with others. Pets are every bit as family as people are. And when you lose them, sometimes all you want is the chance to look into their eyes one more time. My goal with every commission is to create something that feels true to the animal you know and love, something you’ll want to hang on your wall and keep forever. Every portrait I take on is personal to me, because I know it’s personal to you.
This newfound love for pet portraits doesn’t mean I’ve stopped other creative passion projects, though. Which is why I also sell other drawings of mine just for fun. From wild animals to objects to celebrities, what’s available is always different since they’re one of a kind. You can find those on the “Shop/Services” page.
